Overview

Ever notice how a vocal can sound great on one phrase but a little harsh or sharp on the next? As a singer moves through different notes, vowels, and levels, the tone of their voice changes too. Certain frequencies can suddenly stand out, making some words sound harsh, nasal, or overly bright. Vocal Smoother helps keep those changes under control, giving your vocals a more consistent, polished sound without taking away their natural character. Unlike a traditional EQ that makes the same adjustments throughout an entire recording, Vocal Smoother responds to your vocal as it plays. When a resonance becomes too prominent, it gently reduces it. When a harsh frequency or sharp "S" sound jumps out, it brings that under control too. And when those frequencies aren't causing problems, the processing backs off, helping preserve the clarity and detail of the original performance. You have separate controls for Resonance, Harshness, and Sibilance, so you can target exactly what your vocal needs. Use the Smooth control to adjust the overall strength of the processing, and choose between Balanced, Bright, and Aggressive voicing modes to suit different voices and singing styles. The Focus control lets you fine-tune which frequency areas receive the most attention, while Preserve Air helps maintain that open, airy top end even when you're applying stronger smoothing. Vocal Smoother works beautifully as a finishing touch on lead vocals, backing harmonies, and vocal stacks. Use it lightly to add a little extra consistency to an already great recording, or increase the processing when you're working with a brighter, more aggressive performance. It's also a great way to help layered vocals blend together without having to make broad EQ cuts across every track. Whether you're mixing a delicate acoustic vocal, a powerful rock performance, or a bright modern pop production, Vocal Smoother gives you a straightforward way to keep your vocals smooth, present, and easy to listen to. It's a versatile vocal smoothing VST plugin that helps bring out the best in a performance while keeping the voice itself front and center. Available in VST3 format for Windows and VST3 and AU formats for macOS.

Controls

10 controls

Turns Vocal Smoother's processing on or off. Use it to quickly compare your original vocal with the smoothed result.

Controls the overall strength of the smoothing effect. Keep it low for a subtle finishing touch, or turn it up for stronger control over harshness, resonance, and sibilance. It's a great starting point for dialing in how much processing your vocal needs.

Choose between three processing styles designed to work with different vocal tones and performances. Balanced: A natural, all-around response that works well on most vocals. A great starting point when you want smooth, consistent processing without changing too much of the original character. Bright: Focuses more on higher frequencies, making it useful for airy, bright, or naturally sharp vocals that need some extra control in the top end. Aggressive: Provides a stronger response for powerful performances, dense vocal tones, and recordings with more pronounced harshness or sibilance. Try each mode to find the response that best complements the voice you're working with.

Controls how much Vocal Smoother reduces prominent resonances in the low-mid and midrange frequencies. Use it to tame boxy, nasal, or ringing tones that stand out on certain notes or vowels, while leaving the rest of the performance more natural.

Reduces sharp, aggressive frequencies in the upper midrange. Turn it up to smooth out vocals that become edgy or piercing on louder notes, helping them stay present and clear without sounding overly harsh.

Controls sharp consonant sounds like "S," "T," and "SH." Increase it to soften excessive sibilance and keep the top end smooth and comfortable to listen to, while preserving the clarity of the words.

Adjusts which frequency areas Vocal Smoother concentrates on. Move it lower to give more attention to midrange resonance and darker tonal buildup, or higher to focus more on upper-mid harshness and bright, sharp frequencies. Use it to tailor the processing to the voice you're working with.

Helps maintain the openness and high-frequency detail of your vocal while smoothing harshness and sibilance. Turn it up when you want to retain more breath, sparkle, and brightness, especially when using stronger smoothing settings.

Blends the smoothed vocal with your original recording. Keep it low for a subtle touch of processing, or increase it to hear more of Vocal Smoother's effect. Great for dialing in just the right amount of polish while preserving the natural character of the performance.

Adjusts the final volume after processing. Use it to balance your vocal in the mix or match the original level, making it easier to hear how Vocal Smoother changes the tone without being influenced by a difference in loudness.
